We choose football shoes. Find answers to frequently asked questions

Regardless of whether you treat football as a hobby or play it professionally, you certainly realize how important it is to have the right equipment. However, a durable football and comfortable clothes are not everything. Properly selected football shoes are equally important. We tell you what to pay attention to when choosing them.

Is playing football in running shoes a good idea?

Many beginner football enthusiasts give up buying shoes dedicated to football, thinking that standard running shoes will be sufficient. Although playing football in such shoes is possible, it is definitely not a recommended solution.

This is all due to the completely different design of both models, which are intended for completely different activities. Although you actually run while playing football, the foot movement style is not the same as in classic jogging. The direction of movement often changes rapidly, and shoes that are not adapted to this may contribute to the occurrence of damage to the ankle and knee joints.

Moreover, football studs, thanks to a specially designed sole, prevent slipping and allow for better grip on the surface, increasing the effectiveness of the game.

What should you pay attention to when choosing football shoes?

Now that you know that playing football in running shoes is a bad idea, there are a few aspects to consider before purchasing the right footwear. There are many different models on the market, and the wrong choice can have disastrous consequences for your future success on the pitch.

Football shoes should definitely be relatively light. Light footwear allows for better agility and makes it easier to move faster. All this has a significant impact on reducing athlete's fatigue.

When choosing football footwear, it is also worth considering the pitch surface, upper material, user comfort, football position and even playing style. Read on for details.

Does the pitch surface matter when choosing football shoes?

Many people believe that one model of shoes will be perfect for different types of surfaces. Nothing could be further from the truth! Plugs that are not adapted to the surface may result in a spectacular fall and a painful injury. To prevent this, when purchasing shoes, consider what surface you intend to play on.

If matches take place on natural grass, choose the FG or SG model. The first one will work well on hard surfaces, such as dry surfaces, while the second one will work well on wet, slightly muddy grass. If you plan to play on artificial pitches, choose the AG model.

Remember that the wrong choice of model may have disastrous consequences when your foot gets stuck in the turf due to unsuitable studs and you have an unpleasant fall.

What material of football shoes should I choose?

Basically, football boots are available in two versions - leather and synthetic. The choice of upper material depends on several aspects, which we discuss below.

When observing professional players, you can see the advantage of synthetic shoes, but leather shoes are definitely more durable and - according to some - provide a higher level of comfort. All thanks to the phenomenal fit of the leather to the foot. On the other hand, the main disadvantage of leather uppers is their tendency to absorb water. If the match is played in wet or humid conditions, the shoes may become heavier and make it more difficult to run quickly.

Most synthetic materials are undoubtedly lighter, so moving around in them can be much faster. Moreover, synthetic shoes are characterized by a lower price, although in the case of innovative models the price may exceed leather counterparts. Unlike them, synthetic football shoes cannot adapt to the shape of the foot, which may make them less comfortable.

How to adjust your football shoe size?

Under no circumstances should you buy a pair of football boots just because your favorite player has the same one. Comfort is the basis, and each of us experiences it differently.

Football shoes must offer enough space in the toe area and at the same time fit properly to the foot to prevent slipping. Remember, however, that too tight shoes may cause painful blisters, which will significantly affect the effectiveness of your game.

Do football position and playing style matter when choosing football boots?

In addition to the appropriate selection of shoe size, upper material and matching them to the surface, it is worth paying special attention to... the football position. Shoe manufacturers compete with each other in innovative solutions, designing shoes tailored to the style of play.

For attackers, light pairs of shoes will be perfect, as they will allow you to easily change direction and accelerate without any problems. Defenders, in turn, should choose durable models that provide better foot protection and full control, thanks to which the ball will be passed in a clean, impeccable manner. For goalkeepers, we recommend shoes with excellent grip on the ground and additional padding on the upper.

How to increase the life of football shoes?

We are sure that with our advice you will make the right choice. Remember, however, that even the best-selected football shoes will not be able to serve you for long if you do not take proper care of them. To increase the life of your shoes, it is necessary to clean, dry and disinfect your soccer shoes regularly.
