We choose football boots. Find the answers to frequently asked questions

Regardless of whether you treat football as a hobby or play it professionally, you certainly realize how important it is to have the right equipment. However, a durable football and a comfortable outfit are not everything. Properly selected soccer shoes are equally important. We advise what to look for when choosing them.

Is playing soccer with running shoes a good idea?

Many beginner football enthusiasts give up buying shoes dedicated to football, thinking that standard running shoes will be sufficient. Although it is possible to play football in such shoes, it is definitely not a recommended solution.

All thanks to a completely different design of both models, which are designed for completely different activities. Although you actually run when playing football, the style of your foot's movement is not the same as in classic jogging. The direction of movement often changes rapidly, and shoes that are not adapted to it can contribute to the occurrence of injuries of the ankle and knee joints.

What's more, football plugs, thanks to a specially designed sole, prevent slipping and allow for better adhesion to the surface, increasing the effectiveness of the game.

What to look for when choosing football boots?

Now that you know that playing football with running shoes is a bad idea, there are a few things to consider before purchasing the right footwear. There are many different models on the market, and the wrong choice can have dire consequences for your future success on the pitch.

Soccer shoes should definitely be relatively light. Light footwear provides better agility and makes it easier to achieve faster pace of movement. All this in effect significantly reduces the fatigue of the player.

When choosing football shoes, you should also consider the pitch, the material of the upper, the wearer's comfort, the football position and even the style of play. Read on for details.

Does the surface matter when choosing football boots?

Many people believe that one model of shoes will be perfect for different types of surfaces. Nothing could be more wrong! Plugs that are not adapted to the surface may result in a spectacular fall and a painful injury. To prevent this from happening, think about the surface you are going to play on when buying shoes.

If matches take place on natural grass, choose the FG or SG model. The first one will work well on hard surfaces, such as dry surfaces, while the second one will work well on wet, slightly muddy grasses. When you plan to play on artificial fields, choose the AG model.

Remember that the wrong choice of model can be deplorable when your foot gets stuck in the turf due to unsuitable plugs, and you suffer an unpleasant fall.

What material of soccer shoes should you choose?

Basically, football boots are available in two versions - leather and synthetic. The choice of upper material depends on several aspects which we have discussed below.

When observing professional players, you can notice the advantage of synthetic shoes, but leather shoes are definitely more durable and - according to some - provide a higher level of comfort. All thanks to the phenomenal adjustment of the skin to the foot. On the other hand, the main disadvantage of leather uppers is their tendency to soak up water. If the game is played in wet or damp conditions, the shoes may become heavier and make it difficult to run fast.

For the most part, synthetic materials are undoubtedly lighter and therefore can be transferred much faster. Moreover, synthetic shoes are distinguished by a lower price, although in the case of innovative models, the price may exceed leather counterparts. Unlike them, synthetic football boots also cannot adapt to the shape of the foot, which may make them less comfortable.

How to adjust the size of your soccer shoes?

Under any choice, do not buy a pair of football boots just because your favorite player has the same. Comfort is essential, and we all feel it differently.

Soccer shoes must offer enough space in the toe area and at the same time fit properly to the foot, preventing slipping. However, remember that too tight footwear can cause painful blisters, which will significantly affect the effectiveness of your game.

Do football position and style of play matter when choosing football boots?

In addition to the appropriate selection of the size of shoes, material of the upper and matching them to the surface, it is worth paying special attention to ... the football position. Shoe manufacturers outdo each other in innovative solutions, designing shoes that match the style of the game.

For attackers, light pairs of shoes will be perfect, which will allow you to make a sudden change of direction and acceleration without any problems. On the other hand, defenders should opt for durable models that provide better foot protection and full control, thanks to which the ball pass will be carried out in a clean, impeccable way. For goalkeepers, we recommend shoes with excellent adhesion to the ground and additional uppers lining.

How to increase the lifespan of soccer shoes?

We are sure that with our advice you will make the right choice. Remember, however, that even the best selected football boots will not be able to serve you for a long time if you do not take care of them properly. To increase the service life of your footwear, it is essential to clean, dry and disinfect your soccer boots on a regular basis.
