The season for flip-flops, flip-flops and sandals is in full swing. If you want to enjoy the charms of summer without being ashamed of your feet, this guide is for you! Check what you can do to wear summer shoes without embarrassment and give your feet the care they deserve.

Take care of your feet

Did you know that the skin on our feet is about 10 times thicker than the skin on the rest of our body? This is due to both the pressure exerted on them by the body's weight and the constant rubbing against the footwear. For this reason, the skin on the feet requires much more intensive care.

Regardless of whether you are a woman or a man, well-groomed feet are essential. Especially in summer, when we expose them to the light so often. Hot days mean giving up thick socks and covered footwear.

Regardless of whether you are going on holiday to an exclusive hotel or planning standard shopping in a local store, you will probably have summer footwear. Check what you can do to wear them without embarrassment.

Regular care is the key to success

Remember that as you age, your feet become drier and drier, requiring even more care. To avoid panicking when looking for an appointment with a podiatrist at the last minute before your holiday trip, it is worth introducing regular foot care into your daily routine. Find out how to do it in three simple steps.

Step 1. Soak your feet and exfoliate

At least once a week, prepare a warm bath with a few drops of tea tree oil, which is an effective remedy for cracked heels. In this way, you will additionally prevent excessive sweating of your feet and the development of athlete's foot.

Soak your feet for several minutes and then exfoliate. You can use a homemade coffee scrub for this purpose. Just mix sugar with olive oil or any oil, massage it into the skin of your feet, and then rinse thoroughly.

This will prepare your feet for further care and make it easier for them to absorb the nutrients contained in the moisturizing cream.

Step 2. Get rid of dead skin

After soaking your feet and exfoliating, it's the perfect time to exfoliate the calloused epidermis. For this purpose, you will need a special fine-grained grater. Gently perform circular movements to remove dead skin.

Attention! Avoid using pumice stones! This is a breeding ground for bacteria, which may additionally cause the risk of skin irritation.

Step 3. Take care of intense hydration

After bathing, dry your feet thoroughly and apply a special cream with active nutrients. To moisturize your feet, choose creams with urea, almond extract, shea butter, green tea or essential oils.

To enhance the moisturizing effect, you can wear cotton socks at night. By using this method regularly, you will be sure that your feet will reward you with a great look.

Take care of your nails

When your feet are smooth and you have managed to get rid of unsightly calluses, pay attention to your nails. Cut them carefully, avoiding rounding the edges of the nail. This is a common mistake that contributes to the pain caused by ingrown toenails.

If your nails are very hard, soak your feet thoroughly before cutting them. It is always worth remembering this to prevent nails from deforming and breaking.

Trim your nails very carefully. Be careful not to cut yourself or shorten your nails excessively. This way you will prevent pain when walking.

Many podiatrists recommend replacing scissors or clippers with a file. Choose a glass model that you can easily keep clean. There is no need to soak your feet before filing your nails.

It is also worth getting rid of the cuticles. However, do not cut them out so as not to damage the nail bed, but apply a special agent that will help you soften them. After the time indicated in the instructions, remove them from the nail plate using a metal cuticle chisel.

After shortening your nails, you can apply conditioner or varnish in your favorite color. Summer is the time when we are more willing to play with fashion and reach for non-obvious shades of nail polishes.

Visit a podiatrist

Under no circumstances should you remove corns and corns yourself. If you experience such ailments on your feet, make an appointment as soon as possible with an experienced podiatrist who will help you deal with this problem in a professional and safe way.

Choose high-quality footwear

If you want to be sure that your feet will not suffer from blisters and calluses, it is worth investing in good quality footwear. Choose shoes made of natural, flexible materials that will adapt to the shape of your foot without causing discomfort while walking.

It is equally important to buy shoes in the right size. We know how tempting half-price designer shoes are, even if they're a bit tight. Remember that no price is worth the pain that blisters cause, so leave them to other bargain hunters.
