Why the shoes become too tight

The problem of too tight shoes affects almost all of us. Often, shoes that seemed perfect in the store turn out to compress at home. There can be several reasons: natural feet swell during the day, the material can be stiffer than it seemed, or simply rated the size badly. It is important to remember that not every shoes can be stretched. Leather and suede models are the most flexible and react best to home methods. Plastic shoes are more difficult to stretch, but not impossible. Before you start experimenting, assess whether the shoes are too small by half size or more. If the difference is greater than one size, it is better to consider the exchange or return. Homemade methods will allow you to gain a maximum of half the size of an additional space.

Method with frozen bags - safe and effective

One of the most popular and safe methods is a technique with a freezer. You only need string bags and water. Power the bag with water to about 1/3 of the volume, close it tightly and slide it into a place where the shoe is most oppressing - most often around the fingers. Then put the shoes in the freezer overnight. Water turning into ice increases its volume by about 9%, which causes gentle stretching of the material. In the morning, leave the shoes at room temperature for 15-20 minutes, until the ice slightly dissolves and you can easily remove the bag. This method works on both leather and synthetic shoes. It is particularly effective for sports shoes and casual. Remember to use high -quality bags that do not break through - water in shoes can destroy them.

Warm and thick socks - express method

If you need a quick solution, the method with corset and heat can be perfect. Put on the thickest socks you have - preferably woolen winter. Then put your feet into your shoes (it can be difficult, but it's normal). Now direct the hair dryer to an average temperature and gently heat your shoes, especially in places where you can feel pressure. Keep the dryer at a distance of about 15-20 cm and move it permanently so as not to burn the material. During heating, move your feet, bend your fingers - this will help the material stretch. After 2-3 minutes turn off the dryer and leave the shoes on the feet until completely cool. This method works best on natural skin, which under the influence of heat becomes more elastic. Watch out with glued shoes - too high temperatures can weaken the glue.

Ethyl alcohol - the secret of professionals

Ethyl alcohol (spirit) is a tool often used by shoemakers for stretching leather shoes. Mix alcohol with water in a 1: 1 ratio and pour into a bottle with an atomizer. You can also buy stretching spray in a shoe store. Shock the interior of the shoes with a solution, focusing on places where you feel emphasis. Then quickly insert shoes (you can put on thicker socks) and wear them for 15-20 minutes until the alcohol evaporates completely. Alcohol has the property of softening the skin, making it easier to stretch. This method is particularly effective for hard, new leather shoes. Do not use this method for varnished shoes or with delicate arrangements - alcohol can damage them.
