Shoes requiring special treatment
Velor shoes require special treatment. Keep your head up! It's simpler than you might think. To maintain the smooth appearance of suede material, you need to follow a few basic rules.
Remember that regular use of nubuck shoes may cause abrasions on the material. Velor leather is thin and not only is damaged more easily, but also attracts dirt like a magnet. As a result, the surface may become dull and visible creases may appear.

Take care of your suede shoes in three simple steps
Although suede shoes may seem very demanding, you don't have to give them up. You just need to take care of them regularly. We show you how to care for your velor leather footwear in three simple steps so that it will serve you for a really long time.
Step 1. Preparation for use
To extend the life of your velvet shoes, you must impregnate them before wearing them outdoors for the first time. For this purpose, you will need a spray dedicated to this material.
The water- and stain-resistant properties of this impregnation will ensure that your shoes will serve you for many years. Spray the entire surface of the upper, keeping the spray at a safe distance from the shoe (min. 5 cm). Once the product is absorbed, brush your shoes thoroughly to reduce any matting.
Step 2. Regular brushing and refreshing
To effectively remove dirt from the upper of a suede shoe, be sure to invest in a good quality nubuck brush with soft bristles. In the budget version, you can replace it with a gentle toothbrush. Each time you return home, take a moment to brush the dirt off your shoes.
In addition to removing impurities from the surface of suede shoes, it is worth refreshing them regularly. Pour baking soda inside your shoes and leave them overnight. In the morning, shake your shoes thoroughly to get rid of the remaining excess product and... unpleasant smell.
Step 3. Proper storage
With the arrival of cold days, suede sandals require proper storage so that they can serve you throughout the next summer. The same applies to velvet boots, which you hide at the bottom of the closet when the first spring rays of sunlight appear in the sky.
Be sure to store your suede shoes away from moisture and dust. A canvas bag will be perfect for this purpose, as it will protect the delicate material and allow it to breathe freely. If you don't have such a bag, you can successfully replace it with a pillowcase.
Also remember to properly fill the surface inside the shoe to avoid bruises and deformations. For this purpose, you can use wooden shoe trees or old newspapers rolled into balls.
How to remove stains from velvet shoes?
Stains on velvet shoes are a real nightmare! Fortunately, there are methods thanks to which you will not have to part with your suede shoes when visible dirt or stains appear on them.
To get rid of unsightly abrasions, prepare a suede brush. Rub it vigorously in all directions to even out the material. Didn't help? You will need medium-grit sandpaper. Gently run it over the worn area, then brush the shoes in one direction.
There are stains on the upper? If they are caused by mud, wait until it is completely dry before proceeding. Then use a soft brush to get rid of it. If that doesn't help, get a hand brush and a gentle shampoo, preferably one intended for children. Dip the brush into the shampoo water and gently rub the dirt in one direction. If you're dealing with serious dirt, rinse the brush periodically to remove the dirt.
You already know how to care for suede leather shoes. Remember that velor is such a delicate material that it is worth avoiding wearing such footwear during heavy rain or snow.
